At first, I tried to get help from Korean brokers in Hungary becasue of difficulties such as the fact that Hungarian people do not speak English as much as expected and contracts must be in both Hungarian and English.

Although the fee is 500 Euros but I was like 'Just spend money and let's make things easier. What if I get scammed after doing it by myself?' And the cost seemed reasonable.

HOWEVER! The Korean broker asked for a fee before we see the property, (They also had their own reason - There were cases that people saw the property and signed a contract directly with the landowenr) and I also can speak English to some extent, so I decided to do this on my own. (My husband encouraged me a lot.♥)

※ In conclusion, if you can speak English to a certain extent, you don't need a broker. No need to be scared!

ingatlan.com

Ingatlan is the biggest online real estate site in Hungary. People say that you can find some properties through Facebook too, but personally, I found ingatlan much more convenient because I could set various options like location, size, or number of rooms.

I'm not sure Ingtlan provide English version for their site, but Google has an automatic translator(which is amazing), so you could know about the property by translating it directly into English or your native language.

(Of course, there are some mistranslated parts, but if you keep looking for the house, you are able to guess what that means.)

Before searching for the site, I wanted to set standards first because there are tons of different types of properties.

<My checkliest for the apartment was>

1. Modern interior (Newly builted)

There are many old houses in Europe, so even if the inside is very neatly remodeled, there may be problems with water supply or heating.

2. Fully equipted

I don't know when we'll come back to Korea, so we should pursue the minimalist life.

3. Near Home Infrastructure & Korean community

Market, Park, Cafe etc. should be easy to approach and some(Not too many) koreans live in neighborhood.

4. View :)

My husband is going to work 5 or 6 days a week and I will be almost at home, so I though I would be less lonely with a panoramic view.

Budapest is diviede into 23 districts. Below is the information that I found while searching. It may not be true.

First, Budapest can be broadly divided into 'Buda' area and 'Pest' area by the Danube River in the middle.

It is said that the Buda area is a more rich neighborhood, and there are many international schools in District 2 and 3, so many Koreans with children live there. District 5 is the center of the city and tourist attractions are concentrated. And many new apartments have been built in District 4 and 13. You can see lots of gypsies in District 7 and 8, so you need to be more careful when looking for a house there.

Anyway, we decied to go to Marina Part in District 13 where the new apartment complex is located. All conditions were met. Newly built apartments were clustered together, some apartments were provided with equipment fully, and I heard that some people from the same company as my husband live there. And It seemed possible to take a walk along the river, and in the nearby was Duna Plaza, a big shopping mall.

I will post more details about using the Ingatlan site in the next post. Thank you for reading.
